I understand what that means sadly.Too bad he's into the occult. Thank you for the information. I'll pray he can stop and gets saved.I feel sorry for his family.
"New Age" does not mean 'occultish', or whatever. Let's lay off slamming other people's beliefs. Sorry, that's where I put my foot down. Mr. McCarthy does not need "saving"....I resent your implication that he's apparently bound for Hell. And how dare you "feel sorry for his family", like he's some plague upon them! Shame on you for looking down upon others who don't share your belief system!
I myself am not a Christian and I resent Holier-Than-Thou types and their archaic beliefs that anyone who doesn't believe exactly as they do are bound for eternal damnation.
What he believes or what diety he might choose to believe in (if any at all) are certainly his absolute right as a United States citizen (remember Freedom of Religion?) and he should not be condemned nor 'prayed for'.
That just makes me sick to my stomach. Cool it with the santimonious attitude, please.
Susan when I read your religious comment I was a bit flabergasted. I find it hard to believe that in the yar 2008 people are still so uneducated when it comes to religion.
Do you know what an occult is? A brief explanation would be groups who worship the devil. Or religions that people join and then find themselves intrapped in and find it very difficult to break away from. I would say Andrew deffinately does not fall under that catagory.
I am so shocked. I am an atheist and I am proud of it. I believe in me, and I believe in other people, not something that tells me to be self righteous and slam others who don't believe the same as you.
its arrogant and ignorant to think that you are better than someone because of your beliefs.

I am a Catholic and that is what I understand Andrew Mccarthy was raised as. I know my faith very well and am very devout to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Unfortunately after Vatican II 1963-1967 there was much liberal theology that permeated the Church and many young folks like Mr. Mccarthy were not well "catechised" (taught well) of the teachings of the Church, such as the Trinity, the deity of Christ, and the need for personal repentence of sin.
Fortunately that is changing drastically today with Pope John Paul II and Pope Bennedict XVI. So in essence there are what are called many "cultural catholics" who know very little about the Christian Catholic faith.
On the otherhand the whole "new age" thing is very fashionable and many are drawn to that. The "new age" movement is a compilation of eastern philosophy, Christianity and whatever you want to throw in the mix. It is a "feel good" fad that has attracted many in Hollywood. The "new age" belief is not necessarily occultic although it can be. Mr. Mccarthy is probably like many who latched on to this and probably knows very little of what the overall belief holds to.
I would not write him off as someone who believes in the occult as this is probably not the case. It is very sad that so many have abandon their Christian faith as they get older as is the case with both Protestants and Catholics.
One thing you can do is to keep Mr.Mccarthy in prayer. With the fact that Pope Bennedict just made a trip to the U.S. maybe that will peek his interest in returning to his childhood faith. It has done alot for people who have left the Catholic faith and the overall Christian faith. I think that things are heading for the better with respect to the Christian faith.

Christianity is not "holier then thou." The only one that sounds like they are having a problem is you. Yes everyone has a right to believe what they want, except of course when it come to Christianity. It seems that you have a major problem with that.
I don't know about you, but this writer's concern is that Mr. Mccarthy is following a belief that is false. And you know what? That's okay, whether you like it or not. Yes as a Christian we are concerned with the state of a man's soul in the hereafter. Yes you have right to believe whatever you want and so does the writer who wrote the comment about Mccarthy's beliefs. The only "sanctimonious attitude" is coming from you.
Either Christ was who He said He was and commands us to believe in Him or He was a liar. If Christ claimed to be God, which He did, and proved it by rising from the dead, which he did, (by appearing to 500 people at one time) then yes I would give Him a listen before going off on someone because of their Christian beliefs.
If man has sinned against a perfect God and Christ died for us and tells us to believe in Him, or we will experience eternal seperation from him which the Church and the New Testament call hell, then I would take the time to actually research it rather then reacting with a typical rant.
So either put up a good refutation of the Christian gospel or lighten up. You sound very typical of what is in our culture with the comment of " there is freedom of religion." Your comment always means that religious expression and freedom only extends to those just so far as it does not make you feel uncomfortable and suits your purposes.
Yes Christ died for the sins of the world and yes you must believe in that or stand before God and explain yourself. If you think that is false then lets hear you refute the Christian religion with a rational argument and spare us your "sanctimonious attitude."
Snerfy, you beleive this? Let's talk about how S-E-X-Y Andrew is! I love the scene in Pretty in Pink when he stands up from behind the computer....flutter, flutter. What does everyone think of his character on LIPSTIK Jungle, Joe Bennet?
Putting the religious comments a side. Most of the fans come here for light conversation and all in good intent. I can totally understand why Snerfy went off on Susan. When a newcomer who hasn't really posted any quality conversation comes along with a negative post it does make it seem like they are bashing Mr. McCarthy. Susan hasn't responded since then. So here is your chance Susan. Let everyone know you were posting in good faith and not bashing. I am a religious person but don't think this is the place to discuss it. I agree with Ty let's move on to the reason we post here. Andrew's acting abillities.
Ty in Lipstick Jungle when Joe Bennett is shown in the last episdoe sleeping with that blonde. Did you not want to just smack him. It makes me wonder if she will find a new boyfirend and he will lay low for awhile. I hope not. Another one of my favorit scenes where Joe (Andrew) is at that dinner party and he tells the hsot his assistant is bringhing his dinner. I thought that was hysterical.
Methinks the anonymous comments can be attributed to this "Susan", imho.
Anyway, what's up with my computer, eh? I'm seeing nothing but month-old posts everytime I log in and then all of a sudden I see all of these fresh ones! Must be a gremlin in my computer....
