Terryglass I.C.A.

The first monthly meeting of the Terryglass I.C.A. Guild after the summer break takes place this Wednesday, 3rd September, in Terryglass Community Hall at 8pm. It is hoped that all members will be able to attend.

Irish nights

A large crowd enjoyed the last Irish Night of 2008 that was linked to the 10th anniversary Terryglass Arts Festival, and what a wonderful festival it was!

The Irish Night hosted a variety of talent which included Andrew McCarthy, Bob Foyle, Annette, Richie Burke, Seamus and Mark O'Sullivan, Riosin, Cliodhna and Manus Heenan, Anne Marie Coen, Emma and Martha, Riana, Bill McCarthy, Cecily, Sinead, Danny Morrissey, a yodeller, the resident dancing clown, the Nenagh Set Dancers, also the mystery guest- well done Ger Heenan. The set dancers from Nenagh were in top form and stepped it out in style. A thank you is extended to one and all who contributed in any way to these very special evenings.

Our annual Charity Jumble Sale will be held over the October Bank-holiday Weekend in Terryglass Community Hall. So now is the time to sort out jumble to help us to help others.

Terryglass Arts Festival

The 10th anniversary Arts Festival proved to be a great success, despite the mixed weather conditions, it was thoroughly enjoyed by the community and visitors alike. The festival committee would like to acknowledge the support of all our sponsors and contributors without whom the festival could not have taken place. They would also like to acknowledge the support of the Gardai, Civil Defence, North Tipperary County Council Arts Office, Terryglass National School, Terryglass Hall Committee, North Tipperary Fire Service, Terryglass Church Committee and all our volunteers for their help over the festival.

Rural transport

The rural transport scheme provides the parish with a bus each Saturday to take parishioners to the 8pm Mass in Terryglass, and we would encourage people to avail of this great service and also to think of our environment and consider leaving the car at home by taking the bus to Mass. The departure time from Kilbarron is 7.20pm and the bus will collect you door to door. To book a place please contact Loretta Tiernan 067 28066 or Mary Tierney 28167.

A bus also takes people from our area to Nenagh each Thursday, departing from Terryglass at 10am via Ballinderry and Coolbawn, returning from Nenagh at 2.10pm, for further information please contact Anthony 067-27088 or Ken Daly 086 6273177.

Church news

The First Friday Masses on September 5th are in Kilbarron at 9am and in Terryglass at 8pm preceded by Adoration at 7pm and Benediction at 7.50pm. Confessions are available before both Masses.

The Irish Catholic is available in both churches each week, and has interesting articles on what is happening in the Church at home and abroad and is well worth a read. If you would like to order a copy weekly please contact Kathleen Fogarty 067-22043 and the cost of the paper is 1.20.

The bus to Knock Shrine for the Diocesan Mini Vigil on Saturday 13th September from 9pm to midnight will pick up pilgrims at Borrisokane Church at 4.10pm. Fare for an adult is 22 and for a child under 14 years 10.
