Summer Shorts fest unveils lineup

Slate includes LaBute, Reddin, Inge

World preems of works by Neil LaBute, Keith Reddin and William Inge are among the offerings lined up for the Off Broadway one-act fest Summer Shorts.

Andrew McCarthy, who appeared in the LaBute play Fat Pig, helms the scribes A Second of Pleasure, about a couple departing for a romantic weekend.

Reddins Sin Eater follows a teenager bent on killing her fathers murderer, while Inges The Killing centers on a man who asks a favor of a stranger.

Slate also includes a short musical by book writer Bill Connington and composer-lyricist Skip Kennon (Herringbone); The Eternal Anniversary, about a hotel chef prepping an anniversary dinner; as well as Things My Afro Taught Me, written and directed by Nancy Giles (CBS Sunday Morning).

Eight plays of the fest, divided into two bills of four plays each, run at 59E59 Theaters July 24-Aug. 27.
