Does anyone happen to know what the difference is between St. Elmo’s Fire, the movie, on DVD versus the VHS tape? The tape says the approx. running time is 110 mins and the DVD says theirs is 108 mins. I’d like to be able to sell my VHS tape, but I’m reluctant until I know what those 2 minutes are.
Well, I don't have the VHS to say for sure, but I'd bet the actual content of the film is the same. I doubt they cut anything. It could just be the time calculation when making the dvd was more precise than on VHS. Or - does the VHS have any "extras" - maybe they are included in the VHS runtime, but not the DVD run time, as they'll be in a whole different menu.
But I could be totally wrong. BUt I like the DVD (at least the US version). It's has better special features than many other of Andrew's DVD releases, especially of his 80s films (at least that I own).
