Thanks to you Rachel I did it. I met Andrew McCarthy and Lolita Bar for the booksigning.

It was in the basement and the room was pretty small. I got there at 5:30 (It started at 7pm) so I go a seat in the front. They let us downstairs at about 6:40 pm.

Andrew arrived at 7:00pm. I almost fainted when I saw him in person.  He sat directly across from me for an hour and a half (not more than 5 five feet away)! OMG I had a hard time not staring at him.

I introduced myself before the reading and asked if he was doing autographs after the reading and he said he was.

Andrew read his story first followed by 2 other readers. It was awesome watching him read.

After the readings they opened the floor up for questions from the audience to the readers. I was prepared with a question for Andrew. It was sort of comical because he didn't hear me call his name and he seemed genuinely shocked that he was called upon. He went to the podium to answer my question and looked directly at me the whole time.

Afterwards I got to shake his hand after he autographed the book for me. We talked for a couple of minutes.  Andrew is truly a sweet and pleasant man. He was sick as a dog though. I felt bad for him. I'm surprised that he showed up for the reading and am glad he did.

Just before I left I got up the nerve to ask if I could have my picture taken with him and he said yes.  He wrapped his arm around me and I had my arm around him for the picture. I was so excited for the first picture but the camera flash didn't go off.  Then I forgot to smile for the second picture but I don't care.  How many people get to have their picture taken with Andrew.

Thanks to you Rachel it happened.  I wasn't able to attach the picture. I am so getting it develpoed in an 8x10 and putting it in a frame. 

I am in seventh heaven and it is where I will stay. I really hope you get to meet him to Rachel.  For some reason I though you already had.

OMG Irene I am so happy for you! FINALLY!!! Wow - that is so great. I can't wait to see the pics! What question did you ask him?
He sounds reallly friendly! He does seem shocked he has fans!

You can copy and paste them, that seems to work on this forum. Or can you email them otherwise? You're so lucky to have met him!!

That was a really good question to ask. It must have been great for him to have someone who was there for him.
