Film industry figures share travel tales in new book5 Oct 2011
Travellers with a passion for movies might be interested in a book being launched this month which brings together travel stories from a selection of well-known figures from the film world.
Lonely Planet's Lights, Camera Travel! features personal, funny, embarrassing and inspiring tales from famous actors, directors, writers, producers and more.
Alec Baldwin, Richard E Grant and Sandra Bernhard are among the contributors to the book, along with Lakeview Terrace director Neil LaBute and Poseidon star Josh Lucas.
The new release is edited by Andrew McCarthy, a contributing editor at National Geographic Traveler, and Don George, who has overseen five previous Lonely Planet literary anthologies.
In their introduction, the pair state: "The premise behind this anthology is simple: since the ancient Greeks, actors have been society's storytellers.
'And ever since Hollywood first left the backlot, these storytellers have been travelling to far-flung corners of the world to tell those tales.'
Other recent releases for Lonely Planet include a guide to Australia's east coast that encourages food lovers to check out some of the cuisine on offer in New South Wales.

As an actor, hes appeared in more than two-dozen films, including Pretty in Pink,Less Than Zero, Weekend at Bernies, The Joy Luck Club, and The Spiderwick Chronicles. He has starred on Broadway (Side Man), appeared often on TV (Lipstick Jungle), and directed numerous television shows (Gossip Girl).
Don George has edited five previous Lonely Planetliterary anthologies. He also wrote the Lonely Planet Guide to Travel Writing. Don has been global travel editor for Lonely Planet, travel editor at the San Francisco Examiner & Chronicle and founder and editor of Salon.coms Wanderlust. Hi. The book "Lights, Camera Travel!" is on the way to my house. I should get a copy pretty soon (hopefully tomorrow 'cus I live 500 miles from Tokyo). Have you checke his offical site ? The picture of the book was posted and also it said "Buy the book" banner on it.
I noticed the change on his website too. I ordered the book from our local bookstore, so I guess I should be getting it Tuesday. I hope that means a book signing soon!
