Hello Gals, As you all know Peggy has written to Hallmark several times over the past 3 years trying to get a Sequal to SFTH. Here is a copy of her letter and Hallmarks reply. I am a little dissapointed in their response but hey at least we ggot one.
Thank you for your recent contact with Hallmark Channel. It isn't as easy as you seem to think, in order to make a sequel the cast has to be free from all other contractual agreements and willing to commit to the shooting schedule. More importantly the writer has to be willing to write the sequal. I have forwarded your comments to programming for future consideration. Thank you for your interest.
Hi-it's me again. To thank you for showing Straight From The Heart agaib last night. It must be very popular and of course it is because everyone is in love with Andrew McCarthy. He makes the perfect rancher. His fans are all pleading with you to do a sequel. You are doing so many other sequels and they are all great. Why won't you at least acknowledge our requests? You often told me you are forwarding my letter to the production department. It seems to drop dead there. Please give them a boost. Thanks again for showing it. Sincerely - Margaret Nelson
A little dissapointing, but It Is a start, well done Peggy!! No mention that Andrew had been approached about the subject. We fans are aware of the amount of people Involved In a production and the costs.I'm pretty sure the writer would not be complaining If a sequel was made think of all the $ It would make.I for one would pay to watch It ten times over and then buy the dvd as we all would!!! Don't give up Peggy,Im rooting for ya!!!
Let's think possitive. They didn't say they wouldn't do it, they just commented on all that has to fall into place. As fiona said, it's a start, and more than wev'e gotten in the past. This could happen
More importantly the writer has to be willing to write the sequal. If the writer is the writer of the book....the only thing they took from the book was the idea. If she wrote the movie there was a lot of changes, or did someone else write the movie does anyone know? Got to say I liked (loved) the movie but was not too crazy about the book.
dGirls - I feel sure this letter was not written by the nice gal who used to reply to me. I aleways had the feeling she was an Andrew fan . She was warm and enthusiastic. This one is a cold one. Of course we know how difficult it is to get a whole cast pulled together. I was just trying to get them to acknowledge my efforts and also all the others who have written. They are into ssequels at Hallmark for sure right now, even tonight--Love's Enduring Promise is a sequel to Love Comes Softly. That oone is really a lovely film.
Don't worry girls - I never give up. I'm Irish even thoughmy married name is .Swedish.
Well, I think whoever wrote it has a lot of nerve. Nobody said that they thought it was all that simple. They act as though they are talking to an idiot or something. I did not like their attitude at all. We don't think its easy - we simply requested as loyal viewers to see what could be done to make a sequel. I don't know about anyone else but I found it offensive. This just gives me more incentive to write to everyone involved - even Pamela Wallace if need be. Apparently Hallmark is not forwarding the messages to the appropriate people, from what I gathered in that reply. Like we don't know that actors need to be free of any other contractual obligations. Hang in there Peggy, Fiona, Lashal, and crew. We've only just begun to fight.
Janet,I too found the article offensive but let's not give up ,at some point somebody has to listen surely. At the moment all pleas are falling on deaf ears.I wonder if Teri Polo's fans are pushing for a sequel,if so they must be getting the same treament. Let's keep fighting at least we have the dvd to watch,to remind us why we want the sequel.
Oh no Fiona, don't worry - I'll never give up. As a matter of fact I have already begun to try and track down all of the people involved with the movie to begin writing or emailing them. In addition, I emailed Hallmark and expressed my displeasure with the attitude that they exemplified in that reply letter. At least they responded to Peggy; I never got anything from them. But, I love Andrew too much to give up - and I will not give up until we (Andrew's loyal fans) get a sequel. Like you said - we still have our DVD's of SFTH in the meantime.
