Everyone's favorite brat-packer is writing a book. No, it's not the untold story of her secret life on the set of The Breakfast Club, it's about who Ms. Ringwald is now, a 40-year old. In a recent interview with the LA Times she had this to say about her age and new project:
Forty is fine! Forty is great. I'm writing a book about it, to be published by HarperCollins in fall '09. Really, I am! Not just about 40, but people who are of my generation, catching up and what that's like and how you have to reidentify yourself at that age in a culture that's pretty youth-driven. But it's fine actually! Leading up to 40 is much worse than being 40. The sort of tick-tock -- everything just seems so much weirder and scarier than it actually is.
I would guess that "reidentifying" yourself is even more difficult for an icon of that youth-driven culture. Though still most often remembered for her success in a series of 1980s classics, Molly has been playing the roll of Anne Juergens (the main character's mother) on the successful ABC Family show "The Secret Life of an American Teenager.". She's also about to expand on her real-life motherhood role. Her five-year-old daughter is soon to become big sister to twins.
Thanks for letting us know about her book deal. It sounds interesting to me if she write about Andrew. I heard Molly is expexcting twins. She must be a busy mom.
