Andrew McCarthy, Mark Brokaw, Carey Perloff and Jean-Michele Gregory will be developing new plays this summer with The Cape Cod Theatre Project.
McCarthy, known for his roles in "St. Elmo's Fire" and "Pretty in Pink" and the Broadway stage, will team with playwright Neil LaBute to work on LaButes newest play, "second year senior," a two-handed play about a brother and sister opening old wounds.
Performances are July 22, 23 and 24.
Mark Brokaw will work with playwright Daria Polatin on her new piece, "Guidance," a comedy about a high school guidance counselor becoming too involved in the lives of his students. Performances are July 8, 9 and 10.
Working with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz, Carey Perloff will helm "The Color of Desire," a story of intrigue and seduction set against the backdrop of 1960 Havana. Perloff is the artistic director of American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, where she most recently directed Tom Stoppard's "Rock 'n' Roll" and John Ford's "'Tis Pity She's a Whore." Performances are July 15, 16 and 17.
Jean-Michele Gregory will direct the one-man monologue "The Agony and The Ecstasy of Steve Jobs," written and performed by Mike Daisey. The new monologue about Apple Computers Jobs marks another collaboration with Daisey, as Gregory previously developed his shows "The Last Cargo Cult," "Monopoly" and "How Theatre Failed America." Performances are July 29, 30 and 31.
Performances are all at The Falmouth Academy, 7 Highfield Drive. Tickets (suggested donation of $20) may be purchased by calling the box office at 508-457-4242 or online at www.capecodtheatreproject.org.
