OK, now that everyone is asleep, let's see if I can pull this off. 1) If anyone wants to e-mail me, I will send the pictures. I don't know how to post them here yet...smile.gif 2) As for the books, I just sort of shoved them in front of him and said that these were for friends who lived too far away to attend the event. He was so gracious! 3) He spoke about a month long walk he made across Spain, several places in SE Asia, Hawaii (my personal favorite), Ireland, and his recent trip to Morocco. He mentioned that he made a faux pax there because, as a left-hander, he started eating with his left hand. I have to admit that I have to check the spelling of the cities he went to in Asia--I wrote them down. For me, the trip was such a nice diversion from my routine. I have a terrific son who happens to be on the autism spectrum. It's been a roller-coaster of ups and downs...mostly ups, but it's come at a price. My health suffered from the stress, and I dealt with that stress poorly. My husband, the light of my life, didn't even know how to help me at times. But he was my biggest supporter in making this trip happen. I was so excited to go that I actually thought I would be disappointed. The event exceeded my expectations, it was that good! As always, thanks for reading and sharing my excitement with me!

did he walk the Camino?? !

That's so cool. He really loves Ireland.

On another note, glad the trip was so good for you and that it exceeded your expectations. I'm happy Andrew is such a gracious person. But we all knew that anyway.

Yes, that was the walk in Spain. He said he was miserable for the first half, but then halfway through realized that this experience is awesome. Someone from the audience asked if he ever reconnected with the person who inspired the trip. He said, "No, I still have to send him a postcard". He made the walk 20 years ago!

Sandy, everything you wrote was so interesting. I don't even remember if I read about Andrew's walk across Spain.

Plus I have been sick since last week and still not feeling better. So I will write more later and also send you my email adress for photos. Acutally here it is now. Mopat1@aol.com. . If you are on aol we should chat sometime. :)

Wow - the spanish walk is meant to be really tough - did Andrew say what his inspiration was to do that?

He said that he was in a bookstore and browsing books and found a particularly interesting one.  I can't remember who wrote it, but it was a book about the author's walk across Spain (El Camino, if I recall).  He read the book, phoned the author numerous times about making the trip and set off to do it.  He did say that the was tough and that, being a *gold card* pilgrim, checked into several inns along the way.

He also mentioned how he'd love to do the walk again with his son, if he wanted to do it.
