Rach & Mikako,
I totally hope you meet him soon. I pray every day that Twitter or the book release will make it easier for you. Or you can visit me and we can look for him in New York City.
Well, poor timing and wishful thinking on my part--he's really picking up steam with his followers. Darn.
I feel honored that I got 1 tweet back from him when he had only a few hundred followers. If nothing else, I wanted to make him aware again (I told him at the book talk) of his loyal fans in the US, London and Japan!
Have a great weekend! We're getting ready for a hurricane.
I know I can rent it on iTunes, but I'm afraid to see it too. Scary movies really give me nightmares.
Rachel, we're counting on you for the movie review.
Do you guys think we should start a new "Looking for Andrew McCarthy" club and start looking for him so you can meet him?
However I have made the mistake of reading the reviews and they are pretty much 99 per cent appallingly bad reviews!!!
I'm intrigued by that alone to want to see it now, apparent opinion is that it's really bad! I still think I would find something to like about it though
Yes we should start a new hunt for him.
I wonder why it's called Camp Hell in one country and Camp Hope in another. Seems a very odd choice as hell and hope are almost autonyms of each other so I wonder what that was for?
A new"Looking For Andrew McCarthy" club? You come up many ideas! In that book there were crazy Japanese fans who were chasing after Andrew. It could be true, but I wasn't one of them like that. I should read that book one more time.
Well, then I think we should do a world tour, including stops in London, Japan, and the US (we'll say East Coast because that's where he lives).
Rach, love to hear your thoughts on the movie. From a religious standpoint, I can understand the 2 different names. I can explain it more if you like. I think the main reason for the name change was shock value...focusing on the evil of the movie instead of a hopeful resolution in the end (good can sometimes come out of evil type of theme).
Well, it's the first day of school for my little guy. Got to do volunteer duty now--which I love!
Have a good week!
oohhhhhhhhhhhh He is getting CLOSER!!! He tweeted he was stuck at heathrow airport - omg that's close I almost considered going to look for him but no! It's a long long way through london, at the other end!
Oh, I thought of you when I saw that post! Darn...but I do feel so much more confident that you'll get your chance. So close!
I am really, really hoping he does an all out book tour, much like Rob did. Hopefully, Twitter will allow him to see that he has fans all over the world that still adore him.
"Book Tour"! That's a good idea. I am going to ask (beg?)him to come to Japan for his book tour. But someone has to traslate the book in Japanese...well, at least I would ask him about it.
Hey guys can you help me. I still do not understand Twitter. I have a profile but, is that the same as having a page that you are tweeting on. Sandy it said you were my follower does that mean I have a page? lol
Mary, you may see that I unfollowed you because I was worried that I had the wrong person. I will add you back.
Twitter isn't like Facebook where you have a page. It's more like instant messaging on steroids...you can send a message to as many people as follow you...or tweet to a specific person. So, if I send a general tweet, all my followers will see it. If I tweet to you, only you (and if you allow it) and those who search on your name will see the tweet.
Anyone, am I missing something?
Hi. I am more comfortable here more than Twitter! For me there are a tons (it reached 1,600 followers at this moment) of Andrew's followers now, and it bothers me that I cannot find true Andrew's fan from the followers. However, I can contact Andrew "directly" which is great. Mary, you are not alone having a difficult time with Twitter.
Mikako,
I totally agree with you. I feel much more comfortable here with you guys. I think everyone here followed Andrew's career through ups and downs--especially you, Mary and Rachel. I actually feel bad that I jumped in on this board rather late...I observed for a long time without posting...and you were so excited for me when I got a chance to meet him.
I think I am going to make my tweets private as well, as I feel you guys are the ones I want to share everything with.
You are sweet. I really felt bad that, not long after I met you guys, I got a chance to meet Andrew because of this site. So, one of my personal goals is to try my best to help Rach and Mikako meet Andrew too. Mary, I think you'd agree that he's quite the sweetie.
Sandy, You are a very sweet person. I am very glad that you are here with us. It seems there are four of us talking here. Both Mary and Sandy met and had a conversation with Andrew. I think Rachel has a better chance to meet him than I am ('cus Japanese Yen is very expensive !) By the way, I checked his tweet 3 min.ago, he didn't tweet. I wonder where in the world Andrew is??? Take care.
I'm hoping he's still on his honeymoon in Africa...and not tweeting because of that.
Since Labor Day (Sept. 5) is the unofficial end of summer here in the US, I suspect we'll hear more from Andrew next week.
Now that he's doing many, many travel stories, I would be shocked if he doesn't do a piece on Japan. Heck, you're not that far from Hawaii, and he loves Hawaii.
Sandy, thank you so much for helping me on Twitter. He hasn't tweeted since he was on the way to Africa. I guess they are on honeymoon. I guess I will just wait ! Take care, everyone.
I would love to follow Andrew on Twitter except that I don't know the first thing about it. I asked my 20 year old son to help me but he is refusing! He says that I'm to old and don't need a twitter account.
Does anyone know why my son wouldn't want me to have an account? Is it hard to set up?
I don't want to tweet myself, just follow. Any suggestions anybody?
Irene, you can follow without having an account. But you have to keep typing in andrewtmccarthy in the search to get updates.
Personally, I think your son is being a typical 20 yo...it's not "cool" for your mom to have a Twitter account.
Please post back if you still want to set up an account, and I will walk you through it (complete with learning how to follow our favorite actor!).
Thanks Sandy. I would love to have a twitter account. Your right about my son. He says that I don't have any friends outside work so I don't need an account. Well I consider you guys my friends! He says that I am obsessed with A.M. and that I don't need to follow him on twitter. Well that is his opinion and not mine. I am missing so much news about Andrew!
I'm so glad that you finally got to meet Andrew. He is such a sweetheart and so friendly in person. Because of this website and Rach I got a chance to meet Andrew at a booksigning in NYC last November. I posted about it on this site, I don't know if you remember.
I use to post a lot more but I have been sick these last few months and unable to do so.
Anyway thanks in advance for helping me set up a twitter account. I work 16 hour shifts on the weekends so I won't be able to set it up until sometime next week.
Thinking about Andrew on his honeymoon. Happy and sad at the same time
Irene,
I was wondering if that was you. I do remember you meeting him in NYC. If I had about a day's notice, I would have gone too. He is a real sweetie. Oh, and my 9 yo son says that I'm obsessed too. Boys!
If you can let me know what type of gadget you're going to use to set up your account, I can help you out. It's a little different if it's done on a PC versus, say, an iPad.
Do you still live close to NYC?
And once you got on Twitter, of course I would follow you!
