And, for the final piece of digital media, we have an interesting report from 'C-Man' on the shopping habits of Andrew McCarthy.
Anyway, long boring story short - - - - I had the pleasure of 'literally' bumping into the wonderful Andrew McCarthy at Tower Records /Sunset today. You may remember he was the guy in all those John Hughes movies. Such a great actor in his time - haven't seen him in anything since that crappy Stephen King series from a couple of years back.
Anyway, I was piling through the soundtracks - looking for the "Sky High" soundtrack actually, which was near best sellers, as it turned out - and turned and bumped into the guy. I was a bit shocked when I saw his face. He just smiled, and kept walking. He was still browsing so I thought I would say hello and congratulate him on his work - wow, what an amiable fellow, he shook my hand, said he "really appreciates that" and so on.
I asked him what he was up to and he said he's in L.A to meet on a "Mannequin" sequel - him and Kim Cattrall. He then said something about a film called 'Oprhanage King' or 'Orphan King' and said he's in that.
Anyway, I know it's not much and I know he's not a big star these days, but it was good of him to chat so I thought I'd send it your way.
BTW - he had a couple of CD's in his mitts, one was the Mulholland Drive Soundtrack.
For some reason I found myself chuckling through the last bit of email.
Anyway, I think that just may do it for this Saturday on Halloween weekend.
KIM CATTRALL and ANDREW McCARTHY are in talks to reprise their roles from their hit 1987 comedy MANNEQUIN for a sequel.
In the first film, Cattrall played the Egyptian princess whose soul magically made its way into a department-store mannequin.
McCarthy's character eventually developed feelings for the mannequin, which came to life.
While KIRSTY SWANSON starred in a less successful 1991 sequel, MANNEQUIN: ON THE MOVE, website Canmag.com reports that the latest movie will serve as a follow-up to the original film.
Consider yourself very lucky. I would have just lost it if I ran into him in Tower Records! We have one here in Dallas, and someday I hope to run into him if he makes any appearances here in Dallas. I bet you had trouble sleeping that night. Andrew has been a favorite of mine ever since I first saw himn in "Class."
Must admit I have a problem envisioning the mature, very masculine Andrew of Straight From The Heart etc. recreating that hapless romantic of Mannequin. Also saw a photo of Kim recently in a magazine and it boggles my mind thinking of Andrew trying to carry her around-ha. She has been eating well.
I think it would make more sense if we could convince Hallmark Channel to do a sequel to Straight. :
Peggy, you never know they might have Kim carry Adnrew across the floor. ha Of course if Mannequin does come outI will watch it but, I am with you another sequel to Straight From the Heart would be great.
