I just saw this movie last week. I wanted to know if anybody else LOVED this movie as much as I did! If I wasn't already in love with gorgeous Andrew before seeing this movie, I would be now! He looked so handsome, regarless of which way he wore his hat (HaHa). The story was so sweet, and I thought that all of the performers did a really good job. If there is anything negative that I could say about this movie, if I had to, it's that Andrew wasn't in enough of the scenes, or in them long enough. Regardless a wonderful movie, well worth owning!
Teri-so glad you liked Anything But Love (ABL) as much as I did and do. I keep it in my DVD and watch parts of it several times a week.I FF to the part where she starts her piano lessons and themn jump to the parts where they are together. I just love the background music - sometimes almost inaudible - that plays whenever they appear together. It is a hauntingly beautiful melody and iis played in minor key when she goes up the stairs in that beautiful wedding gown. It is also played all during the credits after the film. I just love that quirky piano teacher. I just meltdown when that jaded guy starts to fall in love. I keep the photo of theduet up in the carouselof my toolbar along with my other favorites - especially Andrew in the Tux at the piano. They are from Naughty's screencaps and all I have to do is click on one and there is it almost lifesize.
On the dvd the director says the film is dedicated to the musicals of the 50s and they always had happy endings. This one sure does although the ending might be called sort of hoaky by some. No me. You know Isabel Rose also wrote the story . I though she was very good but herv oice was weak. But I guess that is why she got more screentime.
I am glad I'm not the only one. I was positively mesmerised by Andrew, even more than usual! I agree Peggy I also love it when he starts to fall in love. Andrew does romance so well ! I am a big fan of SFTH as well, I guess I'm a romantic. It is as Joanne said, a lovely film
Cowgirl, to answer you. The movie stars- Isabel Rose, Cameron Bancroft, Andrew (of course), and Ertha Kitt has a fairly small but important role. I bought it from Amazon. Again I would recomed this film to anyone who is an Andrew fan, or even just a fan of good romantic movies. My husband liked this movie. He also liked SFTH. I guess he's a romantic too. Thanks for the feedback.
this is one andrew movie i haven't seen yet. its titled on imdb as standard time. ABL is a much better title. you guys make this movie sound great. i'm gonna hunt it down - i'm looking forward to the music as much as andrew.
I too found this movie to be mesmorizing! Andrew was incredbly handsome and charming in it. He really does wear "romance" well. I hope he continues to woo us in romantic films. He is one of the best and does a convincing job! Can you imagine his real life romantic side???? He has perfect features and any die hard "Andrew" fan can probably pinpoint his physical mannerisms in a movie (his eye gestures, smile, body movements)...that he seems to have his own "gift" in making "stand out." Some men are handsome, some are pretty, some cute, some average, but he's just right. True...it's one's own taste, but surely...he hits a lot in the right places...look how many of us women are bananas over him! Can't get enough of his films! Although I couldn't find his book on tape reading...I would love to learn more about other work that he does (ex. stage and directing....does he write???).
Hi D. "Lee": According to his site he was supposed to be writing an article for National Geographic Traveler magazine. It was to be about, I think, Claire County Ireland, but I have not yet been able to find it. Mary told me that it might be on an on line version. One you have to pay for. I wrote to his contact address, Of course I heard nothing back.
It is so nice to hear how many of you so love ABL. Rach I would definetly recomend it. I found my copy on Amazon. It's just a sweet sort of old fashioned love story, and yes this film did make me wonder about his "real life romantic side" , , . Enough said! The first time I saw it I was so busy being mesmerized by Drew, that I hardly payed any attention to the back ground music, as descibed by Peggy. I will make a point of paying more attention to it the next time. I'm sure that it adds something extra special.
