Hi gals - somewhere along the line I wrote to someone that I would love to correspond with her about ANDREW - not Andy. That was quickjly followoed by someone calling me a control freak. I sure never meant it to sound that way. I have never thought of him as anything but Andrew. I don't think Andy fits him.Going all the way back to the Bratpack days he has never been referred to as anything but Andrew - think about his own website - his autograph- even his copyright of his photos and writings - the billing of any of his appearances whether stage or screen- I eve have two recent photos from magazines - one says Andrew Mccarthy and his wife Carol - the other says Andrew McCarthy meets with Ally Sheedy for a charity reading. And of course there is the very recent letter we received from Andrew!! I think of him  as a dignified, serious actor and Andrew seems to fit him. Those are my thoughts of course and did not mean to sound like a control freak. How about it girls - let's not get too serious, right?

One was Entertainment Weekly I thiink. They were covering the Oscar Party at Elaine's. Not sure about the name of the other one. Some kind of showbiz or entertainment. Was looking at it in the doctor's waiting room and of course had to tear it out surrepticiously. It has a great pic of Andrew and Ally Sheedy and Carol's face can be seen over his shoulder. It was kind of amazing how much they got in that little 3x5 photo. Besides the two of them and Carol's face, there is an insert with Andrew and Ally from St. Elmo's and a quote from him saying "Only in hindsight was I aware that it was a big deal" he said of the Brat Pack days.  Mary tried to enlarge it and got a pretty goo but grainy 4x6. Ally is really pretty and he looks so young and handsome

I always thought of him as  Andrew. In all these  years I have never heard od anyone who had known him or met him ever call him Andy. I do agree that Andrew fits him as a very serious actor. Of course everyone has their point of veiw and I did not take Peggy's the wrong way. I enjoyed reading her opinion and all the other fans opinions  for that matter. That old post did not sound controlling to me.

Andrew is my preference but I certainly don't have a problem with hearing him referred to as Andy or Drew or any other nickname.

I agree, he is just so not Andy to me either. That is just a matter of oppinion though. I do have a habbit of shortening names, even one as wonderful sounding as Andrew. That is why I sometimes refer to him as "Drew". I used to go to school with a really cute guy named Drew. It just fits him for me.

I also did not take what peggy said in a negative way. She was just stating her oppinion. Nothing wrong with that.

After much brainracking-did I say  brain?-ha- I believe that terrific photo of Andrew and Ally Sheedy was in US Weekly. It seems to be on page 40 and the date under the picture is April 17, 2006. So you know that is how they look now. Neither looks 43 as the caption says. Good luck on getting a copy.

If you do get it  I'm sure you will  be like me- rather shocked at the title of  what they were reading for charity --ready?--The Vagina Monologues!!!!!!!!  Ha.  Peggy

Peggy,
Sounds an Interesting article, sure wish I could have seen It,I also like Ally Sheedy,I watched "Short Circuit" the other night,my 6 year old loved It.Both Ally and Andrew have aged well,as have a lot of the other "Brat Pack" stars,I just think Molly Ringwald looks fab.
Anthony Michael Hall has gone from geek to hunk.
"The Dead Zone" Is such a great show.
I apologize for my ramblings,It gives me something to do,I still cannot hear due to my perforated eardrum!!!
Take Care .
Fiona.
